We all acknowledge this important time that we are in. This year has been challenging on most, if not every front imaginable.

But one thing is true, the disability community is powerful, resilient and adaptive.

Please join us for our 2020 DOnetwork Summit. This year, we are completely virtual. While the current COVID-19 pandemic makes this necessary, we know that our community has grown to not only adapt — but to lead — in the virtual meeting space.

This year’s summit is broken into two separate weeks. Each week must be registered for separately. (See below.)

Session Options

The first week is geared to professional development, designed for those seeking to find their leadership potential. With the assistance of our trainer, Lucy Hernandez, we will be using the Gallup StrengthsFinder system.

What kind of leader are you? How can you use your leadership strength qualities to improve your professional relationships? How can we, the Disability Organizing Network (DOnetwork) maximize our leadership skills together to push for progressive systems change?



Week 1: StrengthsFinder “Maximize Your Team”

Material:StrengthsFinder 2.0 e-book (provided after registration)

Important: This session does require preparing in advance, by reading material and participating in the StrengthsFinder activity hosted by a website designed by Gallup at: https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/ (Full information provided after registration.) Registration for this session is limited to 50.

Week 2: DOnetwork Summit 2020 — Our Moment in Time

This week will cover the following in individual sessions of approximately 2 hours:

  • Addressing the Implicit Bias in Our Work
  • Strategic Organizing Tactics
  • Disaster Preparedness Coalition Building and Organizing
  • Accessible, Affordable Housing Organizing
  • LTSS for All Organizing
  • Reviewing the 2021 Systems Change Hub Grant
  • Connecting with the State Independent Living Council (SILC)

Each session will be held independently, and a full agenda schedule will be available soon.

Welcome to the Disability Organizing Network (DOnetwork) website! The DOnetwork calls to action the California Disability Communities and allies, through community organizing, advocacy, education, leadership development and coalition building to effect systems change in local, state and national issues.

The CFILC Disability Organizing Network is a statewide disability advocacy network of 28 Independent Living Centers and the communities they serve. In each center there is a full time staff person devoted to increasing civic participation through community organizing, education and advocacy around issues that affect the Disability Communities.
